A Travellerspoint blog

This weekend I took a bus to Amsterdam in order to see my BFF Tara! The bus ride itself wasn't bad - not nearly as sketchy as a Greyhound ride would be in America. It took around 3 hours to get there. When I arrived in Amsterdam, Tara had procured a bike for me to ride around the city. That's basically what I did all weekend. My legs are sore!

My camera battery was dead and I didn't realize it until I got to Amsterdam, so there are no pictures of the entire experience, which obviously means I'll have to go back another time. Honestly, I'm a little jealous of people who live in Amsterdam. The Netherlands is below sea level, which makes it very flat, which means you can bike everywhere. Just the thought of biking up the huge hill by my residence makes my legs ache! You see so much more of a city by bike than you do by metro. Visiting Tara really made me wish I knew Brussels better than I do.

Today marks one month since I've been in Brussels. Five and a half months to go. I'll learn this city yet.
